For years, we have assumed that Charles (9) Stubblefield's father, William (8), was born in Lyon County, Kentucky to Burl P (7) and Sarah (Smith) Stubblefield. All of the older family members stated this to be true. I searched and searched for any connection to prove this. There is a Burl P. Stubblefield living in Lyon County, KY in the 1860 census with a son named William. However, I have never been able to find anymore about this family, until this past week. After almost 13 years of researching, I have finally found the evidential connection.

At Pogue Library and Archives in Murray, KY, I found a genealogical book on the Stubblefield family called "Stubblefield: Eight Generations of a Family in Rockingham & Caswell Counties, North Carolina, & Calloway County, Kentucky". I knew the Stubblefield name was a common name in Calloway County, as I had heard about Former Representative Frank Albert Stubblefield and Nathan B Stubblefield. Until I found that book, I never knew the connection between the Calloway County, KY Stubblefields and the Southern Illinois Stubblefields. It would appear that Robert Stubblefield is the common ancestor for all Stubblefields in Western Kentucky, West Tennessee, and Southern Illinois.
